Just like a car, computers need regular servicing. Over time the software on them becomes cluttered and disorganised, which in turn causes slowness and even occasional crashes.
While there are a few things that can be done to minimise this problem such as not installing unnessessary software, uninstalling software that's no longer being used and using anti-spyware software, at some point the best thing to do is to start clean.
A spring clean starts by "reformatting" the internal memory (hard drive), so it's completely blank. We then reinstall the operating system and drivers (such as Windows, which gives you the desktop and start menu), then Microsoft Office if you have it (e.g. Word, Excel etc), then any other applications you provide us with. We can then bring your data across from a backup and bring the computer back to an as-new state (but with your information on it).
The process itself is time consuming, so as a general rule we make an appointment to deliver your computer after 2 uninterrupted working days of working on it.
We also keep a copy of your backup (unless you ask us not to), for a period of 1 month just to be on the safe side.
Lastly, if the computer is essential for busness, then for an additional fee we can perform the spring clean over Saturday and Sunday.
